Adopted French Bulldogs 2009
Here are the fortunate French Bulldogs (and a few others…) who found new homes in 2009 after boarding the French Bulldog Bus!
Lucy, 16 months, Oklahoma
“I took the FBBus in December, 2009!”
Lucy has found a new home in Oklahoma with a retired couple who have plenty of time to spend with their canine family. Lucy will get to play in her new fenced yard with two young playmates, a 1 year old Schnauzer named Jazzybelle and 1 year old Papillon named Chloe. Overseeing the youngsters, is 17 year old Schnauzer, Kramer. At the end of the day, the whole family, people and dogs, gather together in mom and dad’s bedroom to spend the night. Her new mom, a retired dog groomer, has had a French Bulldog before, and can’t wait to share her life with another!

Bunny, 18 months old, Texas
“I took the FBBus in December, 2009!”
Bunny picked up her cowboy hat and took off for Texas. She will be loved by John and Lisa and their three cats, Sally, Pinky and Casper. Bunny will be working hard at her kitty manners in her new home as well as exploring the many sights and smells of her new 4 acre property! In addition to the 4 acres, Bunny will also be able to visit the family daycare facility. We think Bunny will be excited to spend time with her Auntie and her new Frenchie cousins while mom is working at a local fitness center. Her new family are delighted by their brand new Bunny!
Whisper, 12 weeks old, Missouri
“I took the FBBus in December, 2009!”
Look out, Big Apple… here comes Whisper! Whisper will be moving to the big city with Kelly and Jeff, their 2 year old French Bulldog Andy (Warhol) and their four year old cat Jackson (Pollack). Kelly and Jeff will sharing the responsibilities of caring and spoiling Whisper in his new home, an NYC condo with its own fenced yard! Whisper’s new owners have no problem taking on the challenge of a handicapped dog – their dog Andy is blind due to a previous eye injury. Now that Whisper will be a city dog, he will get daily walks with mom and dad AND his new dog walker and have plenty of new Frenchie friends at the local dog park. Way to go, Whisper!
Ty, 5 years old, Oklahoma
“I took the FBBus in December, 2009!”
Matt and Kerry’s 7 year old French Bulldog Bean is happy to announce the arrival of her new playmate, Biff, the French Bulldog formerly known as Ty!
This Michigan couple have been searching for the perfect playmate and snuggle buddy for their girl Bean, and that is where their story with Ty begins. Ty can hang out on the couch with his new lady friend while Matt and Kerry are at work. For play time, there is a big fenced yard. Ty can expect to travel along with mom and dad wherever dogs are welcome, and when he has to stay at home, their aunt will look after him and Bean. Ty certainly won’t be lacking for good company!

Rocky, 3 years old, Indiana
“I took the FBBus in November, 2009!”
Rocky has moved to Baltimore, Maryland, to be the spoiled only dog of his mom, an advertising account executive. Rocky is happy that he won’t be alone too long during the day since Mom will come home over her lunch hour just to spend time with him, and, at the end of the day, Rocky will get to sleep with mom. Rocky is happy his new mom doesn’t have to travel much, but when she does, he will get to spend time with his new aunt, who has a large fenced in yard. Rocky’s new mom is familiar with bull breeds and says once you’ve owned a bulldog, you will settle for nothing less!
We hope Rocky and his mom are a great fit!

At the end of an exhausting day of beach combing, Prada will get to rest and recline in the bed with mom or in her own bed if that’s what the little queen bee wishes.
We wish Prada and her new family a long and peaceful life!

Beefy Deux, 12 years old, New York
“I took the FBBus in October, 2009!”
Beefy Deux was adopted by his foster mom, who has been caring for him and loving him since he first came into rescue in May, 2009.
Beefy Deux’s family consists of mom and canine siblings 13 year old Chevy, 11 year old Kermit, 8 year old Alex, 6 year old Lulu and 3 year old Lola. Mom owns a doggy day care where Beefy Deux and his brothers and sisters get to hang out all day long. After a hard day of playing they all pile into bed with mom for a good night’s sleep.
We think Beefy Deux is one lucky Frenchie!

Spot, 13 months old, Missouri
“I took the FBBus in October, 2009!”
Spot took a hop, skip and a jump to his new home in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where his new family consists of his dad, a personal banker, his fiance, and the family’s pet fish. Spot’s home is a ground floor apartment so there are few of those pesky steps that tend to give Spot trouble. Along with his mom and dad, their friend Carly, who is living with them while finishing her nursing degree, will help care for Spot. With all that love and attention Spot is sure to be a spoiled Frenchie!
We wish Spot and his family many happy years!
Nannette, 9 years old, North Carolina
“I took the FBBus in October, 2009!”
Nannette has been watching “her” shows on that great big television set with her foster mom since January 2008, coming up on two years! This is her home and her tv and will be forever after.
Nannette has no intention of giving up the tv remote, so she made the decision to stay right where she is with her mom, a caterer, canine siblings English Bulldogs Rosebud, Angus and Hula, Daschund Whitman and foster siblings K-Kids Vito and Spike.
We couldn’t be happier for Nannette or her family!

“I took the FBBus in October, 2009!”

Paris, 5 years old, Michigan
“I took the FBBus in September, 2009!”
Paris has found a wonderful home in Michigan with a very nice family, with two children and a very agreeable male French Bulldog. She has already wormed her way into her new owners’ bed at night… and she has marked all of her new four legged companion’s beds. Trenton met Forrest at the local dog park and the two hit it off immediately, not something Forrest had done with anyone ever before. Forrest is looking forward to spending time with Trenton, hanging out at home in the shady back yard, going to the dog park and just being part of a family.
We are sure that Forrest will continue to gain confidence and courage now that he has a family of his very own!

Fergie, 5 years old, Massachusetts
“I took the FBBus in September, 2009!”
Little Fergie was diagnosed with struvite crystals in her urine, a condition that requires constant maintenance and has a nasty habit of returning – and the symptoms? Little puddles of pee where you least expect them! Never fear, however, the perfect home unexpectedly appeared and we quickly snatched it up for our needy little girl.
Fergie has found a wonderful home with a registered nurse/veterinary technician and her fiancee. It seems they had just bought their first home, and they needed a little dog to round out the family. Fergie’s ailment is nothing new to her new mom, who had a cat who suffered from the same condition. Mom and dad work opposite shifts, so Fergie is rarely alone, and she although she can’t accompany her mom to her part time job as a nurse, she certainly can accompany her to her part time job at the local veterinary hospital, where the veterinarian has a Frenchie too! And did we mention that her doting dad bought her everything she could ever want from PetsMart?

Chloe, 4 years old, California
“I took the FBBus in August, 2009!”
It was just a short bus ride south for Chloe to her new home in San Diego, California, where she will be the center of attention for her new mom, a nurse, and dad, an office worker. Chloe gets to hang out on her own private covered patio while waiting for mom and dad to return from work and start her nightly spoiling. Sharing the bed with mom and dad is the perfect way to round out the day for Chloe. We think it sounds like the perfect life for a princess frog like Chloe!
Benson, 4 years old, and Snapshot, 16 months old, Oklahoma
“We took the FBBus in August, 2009!”
John and Stephanie are the proud new parents of Snapshot and Benson and all four are seeing the USA in their rented Chevrolet as they head from Oklahoma City (where the boys were being fostered) to their home in Portland, Oregon. In Portland, they are eagerly awaited by their human siblings (Nathan, age 9, and Olivia, age 12) and fur sister, Hickory, a 10 year old female boxer mix with plenty of energy. This is a great home, and we so glad that both boys were adopted together, as Benson is very timid after spending his life in a crate and Snapshot fears nothing and is inquisitive – and Benson follows his lead!

Maya, 4 years old, Missouri
“I took the FBBus in August, 2009!”
Maya has packed her parka and moved north of the border! Maya is now living in Ontario, Canada, with Mom, Dad, 6 year old son, Mason, and 2 year old daughter, Madeleine. Her new family also includes Angus, a Newfoundland/Great Pyrenees mix, Peaches, a fellow French Bulldog, Portia, a Boston Terrier/Boxer mix, as well as 3 cats and 2 birds. Maya gets a fenced in yard to play in with all her siblings, and then they all come in for snuggle time on the couch with Mom, Dad and the kids. Mom works from home so Maya will have plenty of supervision as she becomes used to the household routine. Maya thinks being part of a big happy family is just the best thing on either side of the border – we agree, Maya!
Holly Molly, 5 years old, Georgia
“I took the FBBus in July, 2009!”

Holly Molly is looking forward to morning walks and weekend trips to the dog park, after which some serious couch time will be required. After an exhausting day spent sleeping on the couch, Holly Molly can put in for even more snooze time on the communal bed she shares with Pebbles and Mom.
Holly Molly plans on demanding loads of attention and being spoiled rotten. Sounds like a good plan!

Rocket, 20 months old, Massachusetts
“I took the FBBus in July, 2009!”
Rocket took a short trip across Massachusetts to join his new family in Easthampton. The lucky boy now has two new moms, as well as a crabby big sister 2 year old Pug/Shih Tzu cross, Buddha, and a mellow big brother 8 year old American Bulldog, Diesel, whom his owner described as having “the patience of a god”, which is exactly the kind of patience needed to put up with Rocket. Mom is a professional horse trainer/college professor, and her fiance is the new love in Rocket’s life. This family has no problem taking in a new member who is a bit “odd”, and we’re hoping they have the love and patience to discover the wonderful little dog inside the “odd”. Plus, as Rocket points out, because of Diesel’s stomach problems, the dogs get three meals a day. “HEAVEN!” says Rocket!

She gets to spend her days at home with her new mom and little one year old Hollis, while waiting for her dad to come home from his busy day at the local bank. When not sipping mint tea on the veranda, Heidi has a large fenced in yard she can play in anytime she chooses. Afterwards, this Southern Belle gets to rest up in the bed of her choice. Sounds like a good time to us, Heidi!

When a young web designer in Louisville, Kentucky adopted FBVillage K-Kid Sweetie Petie, now renamed Peter, in November of 2008, she soon decided that her new friend would benefit from another sweet tempered little Frenchie to keep her company. Clover was happy to oblige. Now there are two lucky Frenchies enjoying the dog friendly city of Louisville, hanging out in the fenced yard, and snoozing on the couch in their owner’s air conditioned apartment!

Little Zelda, now Zelda-Jolie, has packed up her cane and dancing shoes and flew first class from Las Angeles, California, to Buffalo, New York with her new mom. We know Zelda is dancing to a happy tune now!

It sounds like Nelson is going to be one happy dog!

Cracker Jack, 3 years old, North Carolina
“I took the FBBus in June, 2009!”
Cracker Jack was surrendered to the FBVillage when his breeder learned that he had a serious heart murmur. He safely made the long journey from South Dakota to North Carolina to a very special foster home where he could get the care he needed, and, most important, where he was welcome to stay as long as necessary until just the right forever home could be found for him.
His North Carolina cardiologist confirmed the earlier diagnosis. Cracker Jack has a heart defect identified as Tetralogy of Fallot. His pulminary artery is not pumping blood properly to his right ventricle, there is thickening of the wall of the right ventricle, and he has a hole in his heart between the right ventricle and the left ventricle. The prognosis for life expectancy is devastating – only 1-2 years. An unhappy outlook for a very happy little dog.
Fortunately, fate intended that those years be spent in a forever home of his own. His foster mom’s veterinarian recommended a family for Cracker Jack, and after discussing his prognosis with the cardiologist, that family decided to bring Cracker Jack home. Fully aware of the serious nature of Cracker Jack’s heart condition, they nevertheless decided to provide him a special place where he will feel loved and spoiled for as long as he had left.
Cracker Jack made the short trip just across town to his forever home in Charlotte, North Carolina to join his new Mom, who works in human resources, and his new Dad, a chef. He will be joining his new Frenchie sister, 9 year old GiGi and Border Collie/Husky mix brother, 9 year old Travis. Please keep your fingers crossed that Cracker Jack will have a good long time left to enjoy his dad’s great cooking and snooze at the foot of their bed!

Jean Michel, 8 months old, Illinois
“I took the FBBus in March, 2009!”
Jean Michel has a big, new happy family in Illinois. He lives with his new mom and dad, their 20 year old son Adam, a 7 year old Dachshund named Allison, and two 11 year old lab mix girls named Lucy and Debbie. Mom is home all day, so Jean Michel will rarely be left alone for long. Best of all, his new family got to know Jean Michel while he was in foster care, so they are very familiar with his stubborn behavior and take charge ways – and they are up to the challenge to raising this tough little dog. His house has an invisible fence surrounding a seven-acre yard, so Jean Michel will have plenty of room to play with his sisters or just run around. His foster mom is staying on as dog-sitter, but this boy will probably be travelling with his new family. His new parents have had many dogs in their lives and have fallen in love with Frenchies and decided that rescue was the way to go. We know Jean Michel’s new family love and care for him the way every Frenchie deserves.

Mom and Dad have had experience with the flat-faced breeds, having owned a bulldog for ten years, so we know that Johnny is in capable hands. Johnny, we think you’re going to do just fine!

Claudia and Monique, 3 years old, Virginia
“We took the FBBus in March, 2009!”
Our lovely French Bulldog sisters have moved to Pennsylvania to join a delightful family. Their new owners are college professors who alternate their schedules so their two children, Lilian, 8, and Kai, 5, don’t have to go to day care, which means that Claudia and Monique won’t be alone, either. Sadly, the family lost both their 11 year old pug and their 14 year old kitty during 2008, and the house was too empty without the pitter patter of furry feet. We’re so happy the house is once again resounding to the pitter patter of furry feet, and that these sisters did not have to be separated. We know that they have found a joyful, loving home.

Boone, 4 years old, Oklahoma
“I took the FBBus in March, 2009!”
Boone will be living the good life in San Diego. Maybe he’ll even go to the Zoo with his new family! His new owners and their three year old son Jet will be giving him the royal treatment a French Bulldog deserves. He’ll be living in his new home, which has a fenced yard, sleeping on the bed, eating a delicious raw diet, and enjoying the full time companionship of a work-at home dad. The family had a much-loved Frenchie who succumbed to cancer several months ago at the age of 10. They are determined to give Boone whatever it takes to keep him happy and healthy, including lots of play and activity. Nothing can fill the hole left by the loss of a beloved dog, but a new dog can bring a new sense of joy, and we think that Boone will fit the bill.

He will have a fenced yard, and when his mom can’t be home to walk him, her family next door can come by to let him out. We’re going to miss Edmund, and we wish him a happy life in his new forever home!

Boomer’s new parents have the French Bulldog bug – Boomer is their third Frenchie! His mom is a legal investigator and his dad is in finance, and both work close to home and can shoot by if they need to. Boomer will have a wonderful big brother, an older, mellow English Mastiff named Monty. Boomer’s new house was designed with the comfort and convenience of the doggie residents in mind. The fenced-in yard allows the boys to watch the world go by. Carpets are strategically placed where four-legged family members might like to snooze, and tile laid where they might make mistakes while Mom and Dad are working. A trusted dog-walker, a Frenchie-friendly vet, and even a pool designed with the dogs in mind complete the picture. All that’s missing is room service! We’re all filling out applications to move in with Boomer!

Henley’s new mom and dad are experienced flat-faced dog owners, before their current dogs, they owned boxers. They have a comfortable house where Henley will rarely be left alone, and they’ve fenced off a special area of the yard just for Henley’s potty breaks. We’re so happy that Henley’s living a nice family life as a French Bulldog should.

Zorro, now La Roux, 7 months old, Texas
“I took the FBBus in February, 2009!”
La Roux, our 7 month old bundle of energy, now calls an entire State Park his home. It’s going to take him some time to mark it! It’s 23,000 acres, and his new Dad is the resident Wildlife Biologist. The family actually lives on the park grounds, and the surrounding park is a grand place for a walk. La Roux shares his new home with Dixie, a five year old rescued Frenchie, and Scout, an 8 year old Jack Russell Terrier. Mom, a former veterinary technician, cooks for the dogs, trains them, takes them everywhere she goes and makes sure they have the best vet care available from the local bulldog-savvy vet. In turn, La Roux, Dixie and Scout stay with Mom when Dad travels for work. Mom is a real lover of French Bulldogs and life with Dixie convinced her to add another to the family. We hope La Roux doesn’t lose track of too many buried bones in that 23,000 acre yard!

Molly O’Mally McKee, 5 years old, Indiana
“I took the FBBus in February, 2009!”
Molly O’Malley McGee’s foster family adopted her when it was finally clear to them that any change in her home could result in even further trauma to this very timid and easily frightened dog. Her new family has long experience in dog rescue, remarkable patience, and the willingness to work with Molly to earn her trust, no matter how long it might take. Molly has two rescued siblings, Kirby, 4, a toy poodle, and and Louise, 6, a former puppy mill Frenchie adopted from the FBVillage in 2007. Both dogs do well with their new sister. She has a fenced-in yard and will rarely have to be home alone. We know a good match when we see it!

Diva, 1 year old, Arkansas
“I took the FBBus in February, 2009!”
Diva’s new family is a big one. The new people in her life include her Mom, her grandmother, her Mom’s significant other, and her Mom’s aunt; then there are five dogs and a cat: Kirby, a seven year old male French Bulldog; Chester, a seven year old rescued male French Bulldog, Poppy, a three year old female French Bulldog, Indy, a three year old female mixed breed, Hedy, an eleven year old female mini dachshund, and Chalie, a very patient five year old male cat. Mom is home all day, so Diva certainly won’t be lonesome! Their vet is a Frenchie owner, so it is pretty likely that he knows their health issues, and as an experienced French Bulldog owner, Mom is well informed herself. Diva will be living in a large house with a large fenced in yard, and traveling to the family’s summer cottage for the warmer months. Diva is starting a great adventure with her new family, and we wish her a happy life!
Lovey, 5 years old, Arkansas
“I took the FBBus in February, 2009!”
Lovey now lives with her new Mom and her mom’s twenty-one year old son, a six year old rat terrier sister named Tootsie, and a thirteen year old terrier mix brother named Bandit. The family rescued Bandit off the streets. Lovey is rarely home alone for more than a couple of hours, and takes nice walks in the neighborhood with her Mom or her brother. There are nearby dog parks, but the rural neighborhood is already dog-friendly. Mom has done her homework on French Bulldogs and looks forward to joining the local meetup group and perhaps the breed club to help her learn more about the breed. She and her neighbors have always helped each other with dog care when travel or other circumstances required, and if Mom needs to travel for work, her son will watch the dogs right in their home with the neighbors’ help. Lovey has found someone to love her and that’s a great thing.
Andre, 2 years old, Oregon
“I took the FBBus in February, 2009!”
Andre has taken up permanent residence with his foster mom and a house full of bulldogs, cats and canaries. Andre’s owner is a former animal control officer with many years of dealing with dogs of every stripe and background. He has three bulldog sisters, Bella, seven years old, Susy, also seven, and Sara Lee, six; Mr. Big, an eight year old French Bulldog; two cats, Stanley, age seven, and Pepper, age one; and five canaries. All the dogs and cats are rescues. Andre’s Mom has long experience in rescuing dogs, and she has extensive experience in dealing with difficult dogs. Andre’s home has a fenced yard and the house is arranged for the convenience of the dogs, who are rarely alone. We can hardly imagine a safer haven for our little snapping turtle, Andre!

Paris, 4 years old, Pennsylvania
“I took the FBBus in February, 2009!”
Paris has found her forever home in New York state, near Cornell University, where both her new Moms work. Paris now has three brothers — a two year old Boston Terrier named Otis, and two sweet fifteen year old kitties named Zeus and Bacchus. Her new family had a pug once, too, so they are well versed in life with the flat-faced breeds and how to keep them healthy. The dogs have their own playroom, a fenced-off deck area for outdoor play in nice weather, and lots of toys. A dogwalker visits every workday so the dogs are not left alone too long. Both dogs go on frequent walks with their Moms and accompany them on errands and travel. When not playing, walking, or being loved on, they can sleep wherever they wish. Everybody wants to be Paris!

Betty Boop, 5 years old, Nevada
“I took the FBBus in January, 2009!”
Betty Boop’s new family sees past her physical frailties to the special girl inside. That makes them winners! She has two new canine sisters, Cha-Cha, a five year old Chihuahua mix and a Bella, a one year old French Bulldog. There is a third sister, her new owners’ ten year old daughter, Aleah! Everyone is at work or school during the day, but Mom comes home for lunch and visits with the dogs. The dogs also have a doggie door to let themselves out into the fenced yard. The family loves Frenchies and dogs in general. They are determined to meet their pets’ every need, and we are thrilled to see Betty Boop go to such a wonderful forever home.

Beefy, 2 years old, New Hampshire
“I took the FBBus in January, 2009!”
Beefy has lots of company in his new home! He has two human siblings, an eleven year old sister and a thirteen year old brother, as well as Oreo, a nine year old Boston Terrier brother and Ronie Roux, a two year old Frenchie sister, and Mom is usually home to look after the whole gang. Since Beefy is deaf, the whole family is busy learning how to live with a deaf dog, but this isn’t their first special needs pet; their Boston Terrier has a seizure disorder. The family loves Frenchies and they are looking forward to adding yet another to the household. Beefy’s family has a plan, and that plan is to give him a good life!

Normandy, 4 years old, New Jersey
“I took the FBBus in January, 2009!”
Normandy has walked into French Bulldog heaven. His new owners have experience rescuing bulldogs and French Bulldogs, love both breeds and understand their needs. They work from home, so Normandy will have human company whenever he wants it. They have a laid back rescue bulldog, nine year old Buster, who likes other dogs just fine. Normandy’s new family has a trusted vet as well as access to the University of Pennsylvania veterinary school, should Normandy ever need them. Best of all, Mom and Dad have a vacation home in Maine where Normandy can look forward to spending his summers. If we could write a script for how all rescue stories should end, it would read much like Normandy’s!
